![]() The beaches in the Riviera Maya have been pretty free from seaweed lately. It is a constant battle that is being fought to keep seaweed off the beaches. More barriers and better barriers have been put in place as well as boats to collect the seaweed before arriving on shore. This year is predicted to be a bad year, if not one of the worst. However, with the arrival of currents and warmer waters, there has been a lot of seaweed coming in waves. The early part of 2022 was great for the beaches and it they were very clear. Much of the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico and Florida have been effected as well. It is however something we have not seen in decades. Then it kept coming. This is not the first time this has happened and we are not the only ones being affected. It actually started late 2014 summer and at first everyone thought it was just some seaweed washing ashore.
